So how does one create a band that combines the Tacoma aroma with the funk of Brooklyn, New York? Well, it depends how you would define fun, and of course the type of aroma that comes from Tacoma at any given time. Maybe it’s unimportant, but what you want to know is this band that is 2/3 Pacific Northwest, 1/3 Tri-State. They’re called Widowspeak, who are based out of Brooklyn, which is where Molly Hamilton and Michael Stasiak met Robert Earl Thomas, and after doing a bit of audio doodling (that would be the best way to describe any organization for a band), they developed a sound they could all agree with.
The band will be releasing their self-titled debut album on August 9th via Captured Tracks and will be doing a number of shows on the East, including a record release show next week Tuesday. No Pacific Northwest dates as of yet:
