When you hear this track, you may not immediately think of Oakland, California, but this is where Metal Mother calls home. Beyond the moniker, Tara Tati wants people to hear her and not come up with assumptions. If you’ve heard of Tati’s name linked with Metal Mother, you might think “oh, heavy metal?” No. You might see concert flyers and go “no, this is definitely metal”. Again, no. She is someone who has control of her music from start to finish (as she did for her self-directed video last year for “Shake“), and what you hear is perhaps what she intended for you to hear. What you don’t hear? It’s perhaps what she intended for you to (not) hear.
