7evenThirty has a new track for 2014 that will continue to be part of the reason to listen and pay attention to him. A better reason to listen? Sean Price fits himself within the track and… you need another reason? See the song title “Hook Heavy”? Now formulate that concept within the mind. Yes, now press play and… no, better yet, download it and then press play. A lot.
Wait, you want another reason to seal the deal? Production from Gensu Dean. BOOM, cue Jamaican horns.
This song is about having an adventure with vegetables in a peculiar situation, as the main lyric is “it’s that late night turnip”. Whatever you do with turnips, cucumbers, or eggplants are complete up to you, as Chuck Berry once said, “live like how you want to live” so live on with the turnip…
Wait a minute. Prez P is saying “Late Night Turn Up”, and J NICS and Lil’ Champ Fway approve of the turn up, not turnips. Put away those vegetables, folks.
The richness of blues, pop, and rock are explored in fine fashion again with Amy Lynn & The Gunshow, who take it to the streets of New York to find the song interacting in a lively setting with the song “West Village Blues”, taken from her Don’t Trip On The Glitter
Once again it’s on with Westbay, representing Brooklyn in the best way he knows how in this classy vid for the song “Fly With Him”, and who he asks to fly with him in this song and video? Maino, of course. The song is from Westbay’s album-to-come on Tuesday, Spread Love
London vocalist Ella Eyre has already made a name for herself this year by picking up a BRIT Award and being nominated for a Brits Critics Choice Award, not bad for someone who is only 20 years old. For me, she sounds like someone who is strong and has soul, is capable of covering a lot of different styles if she wants, and hopefully will be someone who will commit to her own muse and no one else. I hope she remains in her own lane for years. We will see.
It would make sense that a band from California would do a song about their love for the state, because people who say “New York to East California” have no idea what they’re talking about. For Be Calm Honcho, they know what they’re talking about, for they call Bay Area home but want to celebrate their state in the best way they know how. “I Love California” is the tune and they want to make you and everyone around you feel good.
Those in the Bay Area will be able to see them live on July 2nd at The Rickshaw Shop for their record release party for Honcho Dreams (Crossbill), so head there.
In honor of Dr. Maya Angelou who died yesterday morning, Devine Carama has put together a song called “A Phenomenal Woman”, and joining him for the occasion is Talor Hall. Because of this, Devine is considering placing this on his forthcoming album due out this fall, called Believing In Forever.
