When I saw Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe in 2000 opening for Medeski, Martin & Wood, it was an incredible show, especially when they played a cover of Osibisa’s “Music For Gong Gong”. I regularly never hear any band cover Osibisa songs so it was a major highlight.
There may be a chance they’ll do it again (perhaps “Woyaya”) but regardless of what they play, they’re worth checking out and you’ll get the chance at the end of the week when they begin the second leg of their Fantastic Tour, with ten shows along the west coast (including a few in Las Vegas).
