They could have called themselves The Clavins or The Clavin Sisters, or The Sisters J, but Jennifer and Jessie Clavin wanted to go somewhere else with their name. A three week break will put them at the Burgerama Fest in Santa Ana, California. Please make it a must do thing to see them in concert:

VIDEO: Dent May’s “Born Too Late”

 photo DentMay_old_zpsec11f5f1.jpg
There are times when I’ll look at certain events of the past, specifically before I was born, and will think that I was born too late. I would have loved to experience some of those things in real time, or my time, rather than it be something in a book or blog. I then realize that despite its share of ups and downs, I’ve had a fairly decent life so far, where I have fond memories but I very much represent the now and look forward to the future. Perhaps Dent May has gone through some of these thoughts in an introspective manner, and he wanted to put them into song with what he calls “Born Too Late”. The video was directed and edited by by Carson Culver, and was made for a song from his recently released Paw Tracks LP, Warm Blanket.

If you’d like to see and hear May in and out of a carnival scenario, you’ll be able to see him live in a few weeks with a tour. There are some additions to the tour as announced in July, they are indicated here in bold print:

SOME STUFFS: Moon Block Party presents the Desert Daze Festival in North Palm Springs, California

Photobucket
The Coachella and Sasquatch marks the beginning of music festival season, and with a number of them announcing band line-ups, it’s nice to hear about an all new festival that will be making itself known. In this case, the Desert Daze Festival will be an 11-day festival from April 12-22, where the music begins at 4pm, ends at 2am “or so”. Over the 11 days there will be well over 100 artists, along with a number of other events. Each day of the festival is free to everyone, but they also have a suggested donation fee of $5, so if you’re going to see these bands and have a good time, put in a 5 or so. The festival will be held at Dillon’s Roadhouse (64647 Dillon Road Desert Hot Springs), and is located 10 minutes from the Ace Hotel, and half an hour from the where Coachella will be held, so if you’re going to be there for Coachella and you’re not being entertained at any given moment, you can drive down to the Desert Daze Festival.

To make it more interesting, the people behind the festival, Moon Block Party, are going to be offering a “secret spa location” for attendees, as described in the press release:

Moon Block Party will be taking over a top secret spa motel near Dillon Roadhouse for 11 days. Located on an energy vortex, the spa offers 5 natural mineral hot spring pools, a large swimming pool, a sauna, a bbq area, and a massage room. We will have live music and DJs by the pool every day, and food trucks before and after the festival each day. In order to keep the motel exclusive to Moon Block Party Desert Daze bands, artists, and friends, the location and name of the motel will remain top secret until you book your rooms.

To book your room please e-mail moonblockmotel@gmail.com

Hot spas, food trucks, good times? C’mon. To find out more about the Desert Daze Festival, you can head to the official Facebook page, or watch the video below.
