Ruby The Hatchet may not be the first name that comes to mind when you think of Philadelphia bands but I’m here to change that. The group will be releasing a new album on February 24th called Valley Of The Snake (Tee Pee) and it will be out on white vinyl. The group has a small handful of shows coming up later this week but you’re able to pre-order the album directly from Tee Pee Records or from Amazon below (also in MP3 and CD forms) so have a look.

Live Like You’re Dead
is more than an album title, but how can one possibly live when they are deceased? We don’t know how Castle and Has-Lo manages, but perhaps there’s a bit of a meaning in that statement. You can listen to one of them in their new video for “Good Feelings”, which sounds more positive.
Mello Music Group are releasing a new track, a collaboration between Has-Lo and Castle that will be a part of their album due on July 29th (a month from now) called Live Like You’re Dead. From it comes a song called “D.L.S.”, which will make you wish more mainstream hip-hop was on this level. You can also thank producer Arcka for putting this juicer together.
“Go To Work” is a song from a forthcoming collab album between Has-Lo and Castle. Of course, Mello Music Group is going to handle this one, and this one will be called Live Like You’re Dead. It will feature 14 tracks, packaged in cover art designed by Dewey Saunders,
Todd Shaw is the real name for rapper Too $hort, but did Castle honor Too $hort in this track he did with Has-Lo? Maybe it’s an integrity thing, which Castle and Has-Lo both have. You can stream this baby and if you are feeling this, download it for free.
I remember once time I had posted something in my Twitter timeline that said “life is Todd Shaw”, so perhaps that vibe can be felt in this song. Honor greatness.
Time for some action? Yes it is, and Castle has some “Live Action” to offer you here, produced by Has-Lo. The song will be surfacing in a proper fashion on the forthcoming Mello Music Group album Return of the Gasface (The Has-Lo Passages), with March 18th set as its release date (vinyl and CD pressings will surface about two weeks later).

Their most recent album was released last year by Agonia Records called Sole Creation, which you may stream below via Bandcamp and purchase via Amazon.
Mello Music Group are easily one of the most busiest labels out there today, and for me, I always anticipate what they’re about to release next. Here is that next: a compilation album called Mello Music Group Mandala Vol. 1: Polysonic Flows, to be released digitally on January 28th, with hard copy on February 4th. The album will feature material from yU, Dudley Perkins, Has-Lo, Blueprint, Georgia Anne Muldrow, Open Mike Eagle, John Robinson, Mr. Lif, Akil The MC, and Oddisee, who decided to share one of his contributions to the album with “Invislble Walls”, which you may download for free.
Castle’s Gasface album is still making the rounds but in order to draw a bit more attention to it, one of its songs has been given the remix treatment. The remixer? Has-Lo. In his hands: the song “Krillz”. The end result is what goes in your ears.
