VIDEO: Danny Brown’s “Dip (Sampology A/V Remix)”

Posted on Valentine’s Day, “Dip” by Danny Brown has been turned into something else while maintaining its foundation. Producer Sampology constructed the new instrumental with everything sourced from his digging adventures in India. The video takes the same approach, borrowing from random sources and digitally adding Brown’s face to it. As Sampology himself stated in reference to this, “shout out to anyone watching this on acid.” Trip out and rock steady.

That’s right. “Sweeney Song” isn’t just Sweeney Kovar’s theme song, it’s your theme song. YOUR THEME SONG, DAMMIT!!!

The song is from a new box set of 7″ singles called Classic Drug References Vol. 1, which will be out around Christmas Day.

VIDEO: Danny Brown’s “Dip”

The rapper may admit to having a runny nose but this song is not called “Drip”. It’s called “Dip”, and the rapper is Danny Brown, who will be releasing his albu Old (Fool’s Gold) in just under two weeks. For those who can’t wait to buy it, he and Fool’s Gold are allowing it to stream on Spotify on September 30th, a week before it hits stores. Keep him zooted.

SOME STUFFS: Artwork revealed for Danny Brown’s “Old”

 photo DannyBrownO_cover_zps92b9e7e5.jpg
Old is the forthcoming album from Danny Brown, and now you can see what will be used for the cover. The artwork was done by Leila D’Amato, while the cover design and layout was put together by Sam Chirnside for Doubleday & Cartwright. The album will be released by Fool’s Gold at the end of the month.

SOME STUFFS: Freddie Gibbs and Madlib making music history

 photo FreddieGibbs_old_zps64199fb3.jpg
Let’s get a few things cleared out of the way. Freddie Gibbs and Madlib are working together, maybe some of you are aware of this. They have a new EP coming out at the end of the month called Deeper (Madlib Invazion) with two new songs and two bonus beats. Check.

The two are hard at work on putting together a full length album, which they’re going to call PiƱata, with a scheduled release date of February 4, 2014. This will most likely be one of the more anticipated albums of 2014, of any month and season, because of those who will also be on it: Scarface, Earl Sweatshirt, Domo Genesis, Casey Veggies, Mac Miller, Polyester The Saint, G-Wiz, Danny Brown, Ab-Soul, BJ The Chicago Kid, Meech (of Flatbush Zombies), and Raekwon.

Even with the album five months away, they’re touring right now, or at least Freddie Gibbs is, Madlib might be in Venezuela checking out some caves for records but either way, this is where (t)he(y) will be, doing some Rock The Bells dates with some Australasian dates in between:

September 8… San Bernadino, CA (San Manuel Amphitheater – Rock the Bells)
September 14… Mountain View, CA… (Shoreline Amphitheater – Rock the Bells)
September 18… Fitzroy, Australia (Laundry Bar)
September 19… Wellington, New Zealand (James Cabaret)
September 20… Auckland, New Zealand (The Studio)
September 21-22… Sydney, Australia (OutsideIn Festival)
September 28… Washington, D.C. (RFK Stadium Festival Grounds – Rock the Bells)
October 4… East Rutherford, NJ (Meadowlands Racetrack Grass Infields – Rock the Bells)

VIDEO: Danny Brown’s “ODB”

Is Danny Brown Old (Fool’s Gold)? What do you define as “old”? There may be a time when people who are defined as old will rock the mic like Danny Brown but for now he has made a video for the song “ODB”, in honor of Russell Jones who always kicked it ol’ school, kept things dirty, and felt he was a bastard in how he rapped because there was no father to his style. There may be a father to Danny Brown’s style but he understands what’s going on, which results in something superb.

BTW: Brown’s forthcoming album is the Old in question, to be released (as you can see above) September 30th.

SOME STUFFS: Portugal. The Man, Danny Brown, and Jake One…togetha?

 photo PortugalTheManEF_cover_zpsdd60ec05.jpg
Jake One, a deep Seattle Supersonics fan, was able to not only do a remix for Portugal. The Man, but he also was able to get Danny Brown to bless the remix with his presence and what you have is a new version of “Evil Friends”. I don’t think these friends (real or perceived) are evil, but you never know, especially with the way the music industry is moving these days.
