Marc 7 impressed thousands of people as a member of Jurassic 5 and his new solo EP When Sounds Attack, Vol. 1
shows he has never let go of that strength and spirit of hip-hop. If you haven’t heard him in awhile, feel free to catch up with his new video for the song “Buckshots”, which will go into your hear but fortunately not in your face. The EP was released today, get to it now.
If you recognize the face, then you must be a Jurassic 5 fan. One of their members, Marc 7, has dropped a new video for “Sasquatch”, produced by one of the Beats brothers, Hirolla Beats. The song will find its way on Marc’s forthcoming EP, When Sounds Attack (Vol. 1)
. You can also take the song away, free of charge, while supplies last.
You know of Marc 7 as being one of the four MC’s in Jurassic 5. Now he has a new solo album called Food, Clothing And Shelter, which you can not only stream but is available as a free download. The album features cameos from fellow J5 members Soup (a/k/a Zaakir) and Akil, plus Abstract Rude, Orlando Royal, Tippa Irie, and a number of production contributors. Get to know him more by heading to Marc7Music.com if you haven’t already.
, DJ, turntablist, and fans of giggling who have been waiting for when DJ Nu-Mark
would be dropping an album under his own name: the wait is almost over as Broken Sunlight
will be making itself known very soon. This is a smack of what’s to come, a track featuring J-Live
and Erica Dee
and like much of what Nu-Mark has done over the years, this isn’t a bad thing at all.
To make it interesting, the album will be released on vinyl as a series of seven different, 2-song 10″ records, for a total of 14 songs. When all of the EP’s have been released, the album will then be made available on CD and digitally. For hard copy fanatics, the album will be released along with an instrumental companion, and a DVD that documents the making of the album along with live footage.
Chali2na will be bringing himself to the fans with the help of a 7-piece band, as they hit the road in February, opening on a few dates with Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe, and two shows that will team them up with Public Enemy. Sadly, no Washington or Oregon dates are part of this tour, but hopefully with music festivals still a few months away, he’ll make the rounds when temperatures warm up. However, he will be in Idaho and Montana so if you live in or near the following cities, set your plans now, especially the Valentine’s Day show. In the words of 2na himself, “yeah!”

DJ Nu_Mark is someone who I’ve been wanting to hear a lot more of for the last ten years. I’m a lifelong devotee of the Cut Chemist way of life, but there were moments on Jurassic 5‘s albums where I said “yes, now Nu-Mark will get some prime time shine too.” He has been relatively low-key compared to his Less Than Six partner, but he’s about to drop what is said to be the first of a number of mixes and productions to come in the new year, here’s the first.
This one is called Take Me With You, and is described as an audio guide on your musical trip around the world. This has an island/tropical feel, perfect for those of us who are suffering from the bone chilling temperatures. You can download an excerpt of it right now by clicking here (19.1mb). The full mix will be released on January 18th.
This is brand new music from Chali2na, and this time he’s teamed up with Talib Kweli for a track called “Lock Shit Down”. This is a sneak preview of what’s to come on Chali’s forthcoming album, Fish Outta Water (Decon), due out on June 23rd. He will also be on this year’s Rock The Bells concert tour.
Oh, and you’re asking “where’s the MP3?” Click here (8.48mb).
