Singer Kelis is not only a foodie, but a cook who has her own show on the Cooking Channel. She will be doing the schmoozathon that is SXSW, and many will be there not only to network and whatnot, but also to try out some of Austin, Texas’ fine food truck/food cart scene. While Kelis plans on doing a few performance during her stay (see dates below), she will be also taking part in the food trucks as well by making and serving food on Thursday and Friday. You’ll have to follow her on Twitter by clicking to @iamkelis
and watch her timeline to know when and where her food truck will be. If you’re only going to show up just to catch a glimpse of a car, don’t do it. If you want to try some good food, say hello and then give thanks for what she put together, then follow her.

As for the song above, not only is it new Kelis music but it’s a remix made by British producer/DJ Breach.
Ninja Tune is the new label home of Kelis, who will be releasing a new album in April called Food. One song that represents the album in a culinary fashion is “Jerk Ribs”, which may be about human ribs, or human jerking, depending on waht’s being jerked. Maybe it refers to a season meant to be applied to the meat, we are uncertain but answers may be found in the song, represented here by a remix by Mount Kimbie. Some of the other delicious treats on the album will include “Hooch”, “Cobbler”, “Breakfast”, “Biscuits ‘n’ Gravy” and “Fish Fry” but she also realizes that after a full day/week/month of food, you may find yourself “Runnin'” some laps or to the toilet. Watch your doo doo flows, y’all.

Singer Kelis has been taking some time away from music to perfect her hidden love of cooking. Not just cooking anything random from the fridge, but the kind of food one would expect to have at an exclusive restaurant.
Some people this week got a chance to test out the end result of her culinary training with a invite-only dinner in Miami hosted by Belvedere Vodka. Some of her guests included Interscope-Geffen-A&M Records chairman Jimmy Iovine, Adewale Ogunieye of the Chicago bears, Thomas Jones of the Kansas City Chiefs, DJ Rashida, and many others. Everyone was treated to a 2-course dinner which included (among many things) Duck Confit Salad with pomegranate vinaigrette, and fried red snapper with jasmine rice, and dessert (chocolaté Grand Marnier Bread Pudding was one of the options.)
While Kelis has a new album due out this summer (Flesh Tone, her first on will.i.am/Interscope), I myself would not mind being treated by a Kelis-created meal. Not sure if she has plans to start a restaurant or get involved in one of the many cooking-related reality shows, but I think it’s cool that her once-hidden foodie temptations are no longer hidden. Cheers.
First off, is Jack Splash standing in front of a McDonald’s for his promo photo?
I don’t know, but apparently this man has been called “the next Prince” by Missy Elliott, and thus you are able to find out how accurate this is with the release of a forthcoming mix tape-type situation called Heir To The Throne Vol 1. Hell, you don’t even have to wait that long. Just download this track called “In The Future” (4.93mb), featuring Kelis, and judge for yourself.
Splash promises a full length album in the form of Technology and Love Might Save Us All…, due out in March.
