VIDEO: Tuxedo’s “Holiday Love”

Mayer Hawthorne & Jake One are Tuxedo and they have a new track they’d like to lay on you all, in time for the holiday season we are in, and it’s appropriately titled “Holiday Love”. Get some chestnuts, an open fire, and some mistletoe and play this to warm you and your significant other up. It’s magical inside.

FREE DL: The Black Opera featuring Mayer Hawthorne’s “Queen Of Hearts (Oddisee Remix)”

The Black Opera photo BlackOpMH_cover_zpsebd123d8.jpg
Let’s look at the facts here: The Black Opera. Boom, sold. Now you add Mayer Hawthorne into the mix: very nice. Oh no, but wait, there’s more: Oddisee did the remix of… STOP! Can’t handle it, right? Oh no, there’s more: the song is being made available as a free download. OH SCHNITT!! Take it, take it, I say!!! This comes courtesy of Mello Music Group, so enjoy it in a nice way.

VIDEO: The Black Opera featuring Mayer Hawthorne’s “Queen of Hearts”

Mayer Hawthorne was asked by The Black Opera to lay some vocals down for a song, and the request was a success. “Queen Of Hearts” is the end result, and a video was made for it to show union between sound and man. The connection between artist and fan can be made when you purchase Libretto: Of King Legend, the album which features “Queen Of Hearts”. No Juice Newton on this one.

VIDEO: Mayer Hawthorne’s “A Long Time”

A Long Time – Mayer Hawthorne from MayerHawthorne on Vimeo.

Mayer Hawthorne is a Universal artist. Can you believe this? Yet he now gives us a cheap-ass video? BTW – that was called sarcastic humor, but you’ll find humor and nostalgia in Hawthorne’s new video for the song “A Long Time”, because watching this will make you go damn, it has been a long time, hasn’t it? Watch, listen, and reflect.

SOME STUFFS / RECORD CRACK: 2 tours + (at least) 2 new records = the life of Mayer Hawthorne in 2010

Mayer Hawthorne better watch out, James Brown may come back from the dead and tell him not to take away his “hardest working man in show business” status. The reason? Stones Throw Records recently announced that Hawthorne and his band, The County, are going to go on tour twice this year:

  • a U.S. tour that begins next week Tuesday at the Pipeline on my home turf in Honolulu, leading him to this year’s SXSW and Coachella. Passion Pit will join them on the U.S. tour in late March.
  • after a two week break, they head over to Amsterdam to start their European tour.

Hawthorne and & The County will also premiere a brand new 7″ 45rpm single while they’re at SXSW, a split 7″ at that called Pants Plays Mayer where they cover each other’s songs, Mudhoney/Sonic Youth style. The record will be made available outside of SXSW but you’ll get first crack at this record crack there.

There’s more. Hawthorne & The County also have a 12″ release ready to go called I Need You, no word on what it will consist of just yet.

This leads us through the first half of the year. What Hawthorne has planned in the second half is anyone’s guess, but if you are a fan of him and his work, you are being treated to what seems like a never ending feast. Dig in where you can.

  • RECORD CRACK: Instrumental version of Mayer Hawthorne album is ready

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
See this picture? This was posted by Mayer Hawthorne himself on Twitter, looking at his copy of the newly released instrumental version of his album A Stranger Arrangement. Now is it me, or was the cover pressed on cardboard as if it was an album released by Capitol, similar to what the Memphix people also did awhile back with the Express Rising album?

Anyway, now you can bring out your inner Hawthorne and conduct your own karaoke sessions OR create your own instrumentals and mash-ups. The instrumental album is VINYL ONLY. You can order your copies (always in multiples) by going to Stones Throw Records. (Other Hawthorne-related items can be found here.)
