SOME STUFFS: Woodsist Festival to be held at two venues this year

Woodsist Festival 2013 photo WoodsistFest2013_zps6bfb9166.jpg
With help from the good people at Folk Yeah, the Woodsist Festival will be returning this year to the Henry Miller Library in Big Sur, California but as an added treat, a third day has been added at Pappy & Harriet’s in Pioneertown, California. The venues are about seven to eight hours away from one another, but it will give people in each area to catch some great music. If you are able to make the drive or flight from one city to the other, awesome.

The Big Sur shows (tickets will be available here) will have six bands per day, while the Pioneertown show (tickets to be sold here) will have a total of seven. The festival begins just after the first day of fall, here is the list of scheduled performers for each show:

SOME STUFFS: MV & EE prepare new album for fans, who will be rewarded with shows

Woodsist have in their hands, the forthcoming album from MV & EE and it’s called Space Homestead, to be released on vinyl and some other trendy digital formats. The new album, according to the press release, “was recorded over the course of a year in 9 different studios, presenting as clearly as circumstances can permit, a living idea right here in the now of what it is all about.” In other words, even though they recorded it in a number of different places, it still feels like it was done in one place. Not too diverse, but just right. Perhaps an album with an internal worldly outlook, but still feels “down home”? Well look at them: they look quite happy together. So imagine you and her, and them and you… so happy together in a live setting. Can you do it? You can, and you’ll be able to see them in a number of places as they head on tour in support of the new album. They will be in Belfast, Maine at the Free Range Music Festival, and during the summer they’ll do acoustic and electric sets for their appearance at the Inner Mountain Festival in Asheville, North Carolina.

SOME STUFFS: MV & EE have new album prepared for May release

MV & EE is a pretty cool name for a group, and I also like “regional slang”, for their press release says their name is slang for “zero gravity”. Never heard it used this way, but for me, MV & EE is also meant to represent Matt Valentine and Erika Elder, and together with the help of Woodsist, they will be releasing Space Homestead on May 15th on vinyl, along with the trendy digital formats (CD, MP3).

The two have been releasing music for a decade, and while the focus is on the MV and EE of the group, they often bring in a number of friends and guests to become a part of their show/presentation. This album was said to have been recorded in a one year period at over 9 different recording studios, and I wouldn’t be surprised if they did a few of these elements in cars, barns, lawnmower sheds, or in a school gym. Well, I don’t know if any of them are true but considering what they’ve done and how they create music, it is possible.

MV & EE have two shows scheduled for March, see them if you are able to:
March 9… Easthampton, MA (Flywheel)
Marcy 10… Brattleboro, VT (Headroom Stages)
