You may not have heard from Negativland in awhile but after a six year sabbatical, they’re back with a new album called It’s All In Your Head (Seeland), which touches on religious beliefs and disbeliefs. In fact, the album will be packaged in an actual bible and programmed to sound like a radio show. It brings together old media, new media, and of course dead media, how you choose to apply it is up to you. The album will be released on October 28th but you’ll be able to see how it works out in a live setting when they play in the Pacific Northwest very soon:
Negativland: remember the “culture-jamming band”? Or do you at least remember what Negativland did in their existence. Good, for they are resurfacing, at least in the sense that they’re making their controversial song “U2” available for all to remix by releasing the multi-track masters. They did this in honor of the late radio announcer Casey Kasem, whose voice was a major part of “U2”. They decided to show some respect by getting the song out once more, but for all to fool around with. You can now access the multi-track files by clicking here (278.17) and going crazy with it.
Want more craziness? There are four Negativland shows happening this week. Go to one and/or all.
