REVIEW: OFF!’s “Wasted Years”

photo OFFwy_cover_zpsd5707724.jpg OFF! come and go like the good band they are, and with their new album Wasted Years (Vice), they waste no time in coming in and going out soonafter, leaving the premises without a trace.

The album was released two months ago but if you know how the band does it, you know what they’re capable of. Technically at 23 minutes, this is an EP but try to tell them that. It’s a punk rock album, you listen to the album and leave it at that. The attitude is still raw and fresh, the riffs are aplenty and the bullshit factor still doesn’t and will not exist. There’s no adventurous guitar solos here so don’t think of something weird you might catch on a Dwarves album as a one-off, but you might have the same feel as Coffin Break or the garage feel of The Sinister Six if you know how to catch that but otherwise, it’s OFF! as you like and love them, take it or leave it. You’ll still feel like saying “16 songs? Is that it?” but that means to catch them live and hear the album again along with the other material in their discography.

SOME STUFFS: OFF! do not waste time in recording new album, “Wasted Years”

 photo OFFWW_cover_zps614b33d1.jpg
OFF! are ready to share sixteen brand new songs to fans and the rest of the world with a brand new album they’re calling Wasted Years, which will be released in April. They recorded all of the songs themselves directly to 8-track on ½” tape at their practice shed, and what you’ll hear is what was recorded, no overdubbing, or punch-ins of any kind. The album art (shown above) was done once again by Raymond Pettibon. Track listings may not lure you into actually hearing something that doesn’t have an audio link, but it may whet your appetite for the music to come.
1. Void You Out
2. Red White And Black
3. Legion Of Evil
4. No Easy Escape
5. Over Our Heads
6. Hypnotized
7. It Didn’t Matter To Me
8. Exorcised
9. Death Trip On The Party Train
10. I Won’t Be A Casualty
11. All I Can Grab
12. Time’s Not On Your Side
13. Meet Your God
14. Mr. Useless

Because it’s a new song by the band that you can find on some new billion-dollar making video game somewhere, and… you don’t care, you just want to rock to OFF!, and I understand where you’re coming from. BEST OF 2012: My favorite music videos of the year

Let me say this off the top: this is not a list of every single music video that was made in 2012. Making a video is now the norm these days, and at times the amount of videos I have a chance in posting is overwhelming. What this is is a listing of my favorites of music videos I have seen and enjoyed. It could be due to the artist, it could be due to the song, it could be a mixture of both, plus some visuals that I found pleasing to my eyes and thus the mind. I did not have a specific video I felt was the absolute best, but I felt these stood out for whatever reason.
