 photo ChrisRob_old_zps7xmok5of.jpg
The Chris Robinson Brotherhood are returning with a new album, their fourth, come July 29th. You’ll have to wait for almost three months to check out Anyway You Love, We Know How You Feel, to be released on Robinson’s own Silver Arrow label, the label he used in the last days of The Black Crowes. You might be asking yourself “last days?” Well, they may be on hiatus but we don’t know if and when they’ll return so if you haven’t got familiar with what Robinson has been doing, catch up. Best way to begin is with a song called “Narcissus Soaking Wet”, which begins kinda trippy but is very soulful and bluesy just as you like it.

The group are heading on tour this June but they’ll begin with a one-off show next week Friday at the Cherokee Creek Music Festival in Texas. Then it’ll be time to spend the rest of spring into the Brotherhood’s arms and make the summer another great one:

RECORD CRACK: T. Rex reissues on the way

 photo TRex_old_zps9eccba87.jpg
Most of the world may only know T. Rex for one man: Marc Bolan, but Tyrannosaurus Rex were originally a duo with Bolan and musical partner Steve Peregrin Took. Together, they created some of the most powerful, moving, and psychedelic rock’n’roll of the late 60’s which moved many to form their own bands so if you’ve never heard the early and primal Tyrannosaurus Rex, you’ll be able to get a chance as their three albums are being reissued.

 photo TRex_covers1_zps8a937584.jpg
Bolan and Took released three albums as Tyrannosaurus Rex: My People Were Fair And Had Sky In Their Hair… But Now They’re Content To Wear Stars On Their Brows, Prophets, Seers & Sages: The Angels Of The Ages, and Unicorn, with the first two released in 1968. Unicorn became the group’s debut in the United States when it was released on Blue Thumb Records. Each album will now be released as 2-record sets, with bonus tracks filling up the second record. All of the bonus tracks for each album will also be found on each respective CD versions. Mark Paytress does liner notes for each deluxe edition that will be packaged in a booklet.

 photo TRex_PS1_zps3446f35c.jpg
Each album will also have three 7″ limited edition singles, one for each album which are exclusive to the UK. They will consist of:
A: Strange Orchestras – John Peel’s Top Gear 1968 (1:40) / B: Chateau In Virginia Waters – Joe Boyd Session (2:45)
A: Consuela – Take 3 (2:27) /B: Wind Quartets – John Peel’s Top Gear 1968 (2:50)
A: Nijinsky Hind – John Peel’s Top Gear 1968 (2:17) / B: Blessed Wild Apple Girl – Take 2 (2:43)

All of them will be released by Polydor/Universal Music on January 26th. Since these albums have a faithful audience in the UK and Europe, they are only being released in the UK, which means if Americans want to have the vinyl pressings, you’ll have to pay import prices. You may pre-order them below via Amazon.

 photo Spriumlng_old_zps3c1add50.jpg
When I hear “East Vancouver”, I’m thinking “the Washington State town next to Camas, or up in British Columbia?” For the guys in Sprïng, East Vancouver refers to Canada, and they’ll be coming down into the U.S. for a brief tour in January in support of their album Celebrations. They’ll be up and down the West Coast with a quick visit into Arizona, all of this happening in January:

January 22, 2015… Phoenix, AZ (Trunk Space)
January 23, 2015… Tuscon, AZ (Surly Wench)

SOME STUFFS: Earthling Society new album has official release date

During the spring, I shared with you Earthling Society’s cover of Alice Coltrane’s amazing song “Journey in Satchidananda”. It will be out on their album England Have My Bones but the vinyl pressing had been delayed for a bit but there is now an official release date: August 25th, all pressed on translucent green vinyl. Only 500 copies have been made. Pre-order your copy by heading to Riot Season Records.

AUDIO: The Crazy World Of Arthur Brown’s “Zim Zam Zim”

There was a time in Earth’s recent history when this man considered himself the God of Hell Fire. In 2014, The Crazy World Of Arthur Brown continues to do his maniacal best with his music at the ripe age of 71. He has an album coming out on July 28th, you may now listen to its title track, “Zim Zam Zim”

AUDIO: Mainliner’s “The Dispossessed (Live In London)”

Recorded in London last year, Mainliner are a band that combine rock, noise, and psychedelic elements to create a clusterfuck of sound that could be pleasing to your ear. They just released a cassette-only project called Live In London Twenty Thirteen (Swap Meet) and you can listen to one of the songs from it, the rugged “The Dispossessed”. As of this writing, the cassette is sold out but hopefully they’ll have more copies in stock very soon. Click here for details.

AUDIO: Earthling Society’s “Journey in Satchidananda”

The music of Alice Coltrane has inspired musicians within various styles and genres to create their own sounds, and this certainly holds true here. Earthline Society are an indie rock band who are releasing a new album this summer on Riot Season called England Have My Bones, and on it is their cover of Coltrane’s glorious “Journey in Satchidananda”. It’s noisy, chaotic, and most certainly far out in very sense.

FREE MP3 DL: Walrus’ “Bulash”

 photo Walrus_old_zps2b5ec535.jpg
The Out of Sound and Poncho labels collaborated to release a new EP by a 6-piece band called Walrus. Glam Returns is the title, and “Balush” is its first single, and they hail from the land of Jesse Dangerously: Halifax, Nova Scotia. They aren’t shy about sharing their influences, whether it’s heavy rock or soulful bass riffs straight out of the Stax vaults. Stream and listen and if the song moves you, download it for free while supplies last.
