VIDEO: Kevin Morby’s “If You Leave And If You Marry”

 photo KevinMorby_old_zpsfb5f3610.jpg
Kevin Morby is doing quite well as a solo artist, and with the release of his Harlem River album on Woodsist, he is showing the spirit of someone who has a love and passion for music. Now you can see how hw transforms that into a visual medium with a clip made for the song “If You Leave And If You Marry”, where everything is seen through the eyes of old super 8mm film cameras, giving the viewer and listener thoughts of yesteryear.

Morby has a small handful of shows set up in the next few weeks, including two shows in Chicago at Old Town School Of Folk Music, attend if you can:

February 22… San Francisco, CA (The Chapel) *
February 23… Santa Cruz, CA (The Crepe Place) *
March 11… Los Angeles, CA (The Fonda) ^
April 19-20… Chicago, IL (Old Town School of Folk Music) #
April 25… Brooklyn, NY (Rough Trade) %

With help from the good people at Folk Yeah, the Woodsist Festival will be returning this year to the Henry Miller Library in Big Sur, California but as an added treat, a third day has been added at Pappy & Harriet’s in Pioneertown, California. The venues are about seven to eight hours away from one another, but it will give people in each area to catch some great music. If you are able to make the drive or flight from one city to the other, awesome.

After that, it’s pure Twerps.

SOME STUFFS: Real Estate get wicked in new video, as they prepare to inspect other properties in the form of concert dates

http://www.funnyordie.com/embed/dbb5747c4a

The new video by Real Estate was hosted by FunnyOrDie.com and I presented here to you. It’s pure pop love, you might call it pure pop fluff or pure pop poop, but it doesn’t matter, I’m moving you to listen and watch this, YOU GOT THAT?!??!

Anyway, it’s a very quaint song with a very moving video, and when I say moving, I mean bowel movement moving and WAIT A MINUTE, THAT’S NOT WHAT I MEAN, GUNFUNNIT!!!!!

Um, it’s a humorous video that pokes fun at street teams for bands, with an ending that’ll make you go “okay, and?” It doesn’t matter “and?”, just let it go and move away. Fun song, fun video by a fun band. Playing with your fun bags: optional.

The video was directed by Tom Scharpling, which may explain a few things. Then again, maybe not.

If you prefer the literal band where the only interpretations made are with your mind, hear and see them when they go on tour this winter. They will also be doing a few European dates before heading to celebrate the last days of summer in Australia and New Zealand, then a break before they become one of Coachella‘s bright lights at this year’s festival.

Real Estate are starting their tour off this Wednesday in Spain at the KGB, and they’ll eventually end up in New Zealand at the San Francisco Bath House? That’s insane… but not insane if you’re not someone who cares about the name of venues.

Otherwise, your favorite band will be going on an interesting path with a number of dates throughout Europe before taking a break in mid-December. After they are festive, they will come to North America, get more festive with fans, and then get their jollies off with a Australasian leg. See what leg you’re up on:

SOME STUFFS: The glory of the Real Estate means new album

Photobucket
Producer Kevin McMahon worked with New Jersey’s Real Estate this past winter and spring for an album that will see the light of day this fall, October 18th to be exact. The album will be called Days (Domino), and for fans of what has been called “timelessly melodic, achingly melancholy pop songs”, you’ll want to put this on your mental want list. Want to know if it’s right for you? You’re able to download a song (“It’s Real”) for free by clicking the *MP3* button on the player below. That’s it.

BTW – “It’s Real” will be released as a 7″ 45 a few weeks before the album is released, with “Blue Lebaron” as its B-side.

The group are currently on tour, so check them out while you can.
