VIDEO: Swearin’s “Dust In The Gold Sack”

They are a band to rock, not to mock. They are Swearin’, and forget the fact that one of the members is playing a guitar with loose strings that would make it impossible to play the sounds heard in the song. Forget the fact that the vocalist has her microphone positioned in a way that’s not unlike Lemmy, even though this song sounds nothing like “Ace Of Spades”. Forget the humor in seeing an old Sony radio which states it offers “TV Sound” because you were able to tune into the audio for any channel that existed on VHF. Shit out of luck if you lived in a down with only UHF channels. Forget the fact that the drummer is playing a tambourine and what looks like a paint brush, even though what you’re hearing is a proper drum set. Forget the fact that you’ll also see pubic hair and a praying nun, but both are independent from one another and not in the same shot. Also forget the fact that the band hold up their arms in unity. But remember to press play to watch “Dust In The Gold Sack”, because it’s a very good song and I’d like for you to be entertained. The song will appear on their Salinas/Wichita Recordings album Surfing Strange, still set for a release on November 4th. They are on tour now, click here for a look at where they will be performing next.

SOME STUFFS: Swearin’ share another cut from “Surfing Strange”

The release of Swearin”s Surfing Strange (Salinas/Wichita Recordings) is exactly a month away, and the group have chosen to share a tune for laying and other purposes, this one called “Dust In The Gold Sack”. This may refer to actual dust in an actual sack of gold, or a sack made out of gold, or dusting off a gold sack, which may or may not be a metaphor for testicles. My guess: it’s not that type of a ballsy song, but you me appreciate it just the same.

As reported here, Swearin’ will be on tour for the remainder of the year so click the link for a full tour itinerary.

SOME STUFFS: Swearin’ do more than hang ten as they define “Surfing Strange” on their new release

 photo Swearin_old_zps8c7cdb6f.jpg
A few day ago I announced tour dates for Waxahatchee, who have new music coming out and they will be joined by Swearin’. There’s a reason for that, as Swearin’ will be releasing new music in November through Salinas (in the U.S.) Wichita Recordings (UK). The band’s new album is called Surfing Strange, and to get yourself in the water of familiarity, listen to “Watered Down”, the song of which is not.

The Brooklyn band, containing Allison Crutchfield, Jeff Bolt, Keith Spencer, and Kyle Gilbride, will be in Europe next month before returning to the North America continent in November, and many of the shows will also bring in Waxahatchee along for the ride, so there may be a bit of sneaky conversations between Crutchfield and her twin sister, Waxahatchee vocalist Katie, but we will see.

VIDEO: Shellshag’s “Driving Song”

A simple-but-nicely-done video by the Shellshag gang, along with their friends in the festive “Driving Song”, a track from their Shellshag Forever album on Don Giovanni.

In other band news, the group now have action figures, created by the duo’s John Shell. You may look them over by clicking here, or watch this fantastic TV commercial for them:

I’m sure they’ll bring a few to sell on the merchandise table when they go on tour this week, so bring some extra money:

SOME STUFFS: Shellshag are “Forever” with new video

The band are called Shellshag. Their forthcoming album on Don Giovanni is called Shellshag Forever. There’s a song on it called “Forever” so technically, the video for said song cannot be a title track. But it rocks, and you may view their garage nastiness now.

While the band can’t be on the road forever (some people have lives, you know), they will be hitting the road next month:
