VIDEO: Jonathan Rado’s “Faces”

With his album Law And Order (Woodsist) now available for listening and munching (NOTE: do not munch on his music. Munching along with it would be okay), Jonathan Rado has made public a video for one of its songs. Directed by Austin Kearn, “Faces” involves an underground/basement boxing match with sweaty men and bricks. It looks cinematic and serious but then it leads to some unique boxing techniques.

Rado will be appearing at the Woodsist Festival in Big Sur, California later this month, and also has some other festival dates lined up. Newly added dates are listed in bold:

September 18… Brooklyn, NY (Glasslands) *
September 22… Big Sur, CA (Woodsist Festival @ Henry Miller Library)
September 27… Champaign-Urbana, IL (Pygmalion Music Festival)
September 28… Cincinnati, OH (Midpoint Music Fest)
October 4-13… Austin, TX (Austin City Limits Festival)
October 15-19… New York, NY (CMJ)

SOME STUFFS: A man has changed his name and body to become White Fence

White Fence photo WhiteFence_old-1_zpsbcefe8c4.jpg
This is how the press release for Tim Presley begins:
I have cyclops vision now. But I’m not a giant. I changed my name and body only, and stabbed my social nous in the right ear. I still read fear but there are no police this year. I can repeat the same dream. I can let birds talk to me. I’m in jail. I have love and a whistle. I lay where the lotus lay and then spring the frozen flowers on any giving day. I apologize to those put in the trees, but I was gathering the Cyclops reap.

Insane, right? Well if not that, then at least creative, for Presley is now White Fence and we have to accept the situation and circumstances that lead him to this moniker. When you write and record a song that’s titled “To The Boy I Jumped In The Hemlock Alley”, you have to wonder: what is this guy about? White Fence is about pop trippiness and everything that it can and can’t be, and then going beyond. As for that Cyclops reap he was gathering, it now comes in the form of an album that he calls CYCLOPS REAP, to be released this Tuesday on Castleface and as for that song with the long title, you may have a listen to its splendid adventure. It almost sounds like a George Harrison song from the mid to late 70’s, which is not bad at all.

SOME STUFFS: Ty Segall & White Fence unite for new album

Photobucket
SHINE THE SPOTLIGHT ON THIS ONE!!! An album cover with a photograph taken with a fish-eye lens? Or at least using a fish-eye filter? I’m sold, I don’t even want to hear it, nor do I want to know more. But I must tell you anyway, for you’re curious, aren’t cha?

Ty Segall and White Fence are releasing a collaborative album on April 24th via Drag City called Hair. The press release was confusing, but I was able to isolate words like “poppy lunges”, “acoustic strolls”, “freak-downs”, and “harmony vocals and compression”. What does all means, and what the equation will sound like, it beats me. Maybe that’s the point: for the music to beat you. Hopefully not in a Chris Brown fashion.

Both Ty Segall and White Fennce will go on tour together, and they’ll also be doing shows on their own here and there. Where? Here:

SOME STUFF: Tim Presley finds no reason to favor either side of his White Fence

Photobucket

Tom Presley is known as a member of Darker My Love, and people have been comfortable with knowing him this way. Presley is about to expose a new side of his music with what he calls White Fence, and it’s different from what fans know and expect from him. He wants you to know this off the top. Woodsist are working with him again to release an album called …is Growing Faith on January 10, 2011. For a sample, you can listen to “Lillian (Why Don’t You Play Drums)” by clicking to Soundcloud and downloading there.
