RECORD CRACK: Joyful Noise announce 2013 Flexi-Disc series

Joyful Noise 2013 Flexi-Disc Series
Joyful Noise Recordings will be involved in a subscription-only series of records, one a month, throughout 2013. Simply called The Joyful Noise 2013 Flexi Disc Series, each record will feature songs exclusive to the flexi by some of their favorite bands, with each flexi limited to only 1000 copies and featuring full artwork and a unique cover provided by each band, which include (in alphabetical order):

Birthmark
Built To Spill & Helvetia
Here We Go Magic
Hella
Melvins
Mike Adams At His Honest Weight
Monotonix
Rob Crow
Son Lux
Sufjan Stevens & Cat Martino
The Sea And Cake
Why?

The records will be available in two ways: as a “Standard” subscription where each record will go for $5 a month, shipped to you automatically on a monthly basis. The “Deluxe” subscription will go for an additional $30, where you will receive one (1) hand-numbered, screen-printed wooden box to house the flex-discs, featuring artwork from Mackie “I know Buzz” Osborne. People are limited to three (3) subscriptions per customer, your credit card will be charged on or around the first of the month, and of course you may cancel at any time. Track listings will not be given out until a few weeks before the release, nor will it be announced on which artist will come out with what record for a specific month. They’re taking on the surprise element to a new degree by also stating that what you may get on the flexi may be anything and everything, as long as it’s different from the proper release. In the case of Melvins, it might be King Buzzo humming backwards for all we know while Dale Crover does a conga solo, it is unknown.

AUDIO: Why?’s “The Water You Walk”

Why?
Why? have become champions here at This Is Book’s Music, in that if I were to start a music festival, I’d try to get them to perform there. No word on a festival yet, but what is up for grabs here is a new song by Why? called “The Water You Walk”, which will be the B-side on the band’s forthcoming 7″ single, “Waterlines”, the cover of which looks like this.

Why?

Also up for note are tour dates for their tour in the late winter, which I posted here.

VIDEO: WHY?’s “Paper Hearts”

Brand new for the 1-2, a year that is slowly coming to an end, is WHY? No, not the group, they’ve been around for awhile, but their new video for “Paper Hearts”. It is from their current album Mumps, etc. (Anticon/City Slang), so as the group travels through Europe, see their video on the screen you’re looking at.

VIDEO: WHY?’s “Strawberries”

The parade shown in the hew Why? video is the type where officials would kick everyone for because it’s not a part of what he knows as “the fabric of America”. I believe this is America, and like Grand Funk, Why? are an American band. For one, they enjoy “Strawberries”. I’d be the guy at the parade doing some Tahitian hand slapping for beats.

Last month I posted a track by Why? and featured a photo that showed the bottom half of the group. Now, I’d like to share the top half of the group.

Both halves will be releasing a new album very soon called Mumps, etc. (Anticon/City Slang) and they’ve decided to share another track from it to generate interest and a healthy buzz. This one is called “Strawberries”.

Tour dates have been set up, which you can glance at by heading here.
